BBC Democracy site

...Actually looks rather good, I have to say. Nice video wall, good graphic design, search for something like 'BBC' and you get a list of all videos in which that phrase was mentioned, the times in the video at which it was mentioned, and the text around the mention...

Two points though:

1/ When this looks so nicely designed, why does Blinkx Music look so dull and crap? I know that the graphic design would have been done by in-house BBC graphic designers, and I know from personal experience that many of them are very good indeed (I've worked several contracts at the BBC over the years, and have some old chums who work there still as producers on the web site), but good graphic designers (full-timers or contractors) can be hired easily enough, so why weren't they?

2/ How much revenue is this generating? I'll ask again - why RNS this and not the MySpace deal? Why not RNS both - the BBC deal for the kudos and the MySpace deal for the potential revenue?
