YouView, the internet television project backed by Britain’s major broadcasters and broadband providers will finally enter public trials this week after lengthy delays.
A first-stage trial in 350 homes was agreed last week by the YouView board,
chaired by Lord Sugar, The Financial Times reported.
Each will get a new set-top box that connects to the internet and offers
access to an array of free online services such as the BBC iPlayer, as well
as subscription apps such as Amazon’s Lovefilm. It aims to build upon the
success of Freeview by offering more choice and content..
